Tip calculator
Enter your bill, pick a tip percentage, and split the total across people. Useful at restaurants, for delivery, ride-share, and salon appointments.
Formula
Tipping conventions vary widely by country. In the US, 18–20% is standard at sit-down restaurants, 10–15% for takeout, and $1–2 per drink at bars. Most of Western Europe rolls service into the bill, so any cash tip is a bonus (5–10% if service was great). In Japan and South Korea, tipping is sometimes considered rude.
This calculator uses the simplest rule: tip = bill × (percent / 100), total = bill + tip, per-person = total ÷ people. It does not handle pre-tax-only tipping (some restaurants tip on the subtotal, not the total bill that includes sales tax). If you tip on pre-tax, subtract the tax before entering the bill.
